Things to Do in Birmingham AL at Night: Late Oct. 2026
Birmingham, AL · After Dark
At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, the doors swing open at Iron City on 22nd Street South in Birmingham, AL, and the standing-room floor starts filling an hour before Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy walk out together.
That's the opening night of a stretch where the city's after-dark calendar goes a little feral. If you're looking for things to do in Birmingham at night before Halloween, the next two weeks bring a vintage horror film, an indie-rock co-headliner, a lantern-only scare night, a haunted manor on 40th Street North and an adults-only silent disco inside a science museum. We checked each date, hour and price against the venue's own listing or a local event roundup, and where a detail wasn't posted, we say so.
01 — Thursday, Oct. 15Vampyr at Sidewalk
Start tomorrow, and start quiet. Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema is screening Vampyr, the 1932 gothic horror film, on a double bill of evenings.
Vampyr (1932)
Kids 12 and under and seniors 65 and up pay $9. It's a slow, dreamlike film with no jump scares, which makes it the right warm-up for the louder nights ahead.
02 — Wednesday, Oct. 21Snail Mail at Iron City
Two of indie rock's best-loved songwriters share one bill this fall, and Birmingham is on the route.
Snail Mail & Soccer Mommy
The venue sits at 513 22nd Street South. It's general admission, standing room only, and sales are final, so you can't swap a ticket if plans change. Scarlet Rae is also on the tour, though Iron City doesn't say who opens.
03 — Thursday, Oct. 22Unchained at Warehouse31
Most haunted attractions hand you a glow stick. This one hands you a lantern, and that's all the light you get.
Unchained 2026
Unchained is a one-night event, and you walk through with a single lantern. Warehouse31 runs its regular scares from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays through October 31.
04 — Friday & SaturdayConjure's Blackthorn Manor
The haunted house on 40th Street North is the loudest option on the list. Conjure fills 50,000 square feet at 906 40th Street North, and guests go through on their own, with no guide to lean on.
Conjure Haunted Attraction
Doors open at 7 p.m. General admission is $27, a Touch Pass is $35, VIP is $50 for a faster line, and the Scream Skip is $100 and includes a Conjure T-shirt. Those are the base prices, before fees, so budget a few dollars more at checkout.
“Birmingham in late October runs on lanterns, fog machines and one very large silent disco.”
05 — Saturday, Oct. 24McWane After Dark
The science museum hands the building over to adults now and then. This edition marks 20 years of Taylor Swift.
20 Years of Taylor Swift
It's an 18-and-over series. Expect a silent disco, friendship-bracelet crafting and Taylor-themed trivia, plus the chance to grab a drink between songs.
06 — Saturday, Oct. 31Lights Out at Atrox
Halloween night itself is crowded, because the Magic City Classic kicks off at Legion Field at 2:30 p.m. If you'd rather spend the evening in total darkness, Atrox Factory in Leeds runs its “Lights Out” nights on October 31 and November 1 from 6:30 to 10 p.m., at 8404 Parkway Drive. Tickets start at $30, and you'll need to show a printed or mobile ticket at the gate. On other nights, Atrox opens at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
