YellaWood 500 Talladega 2026: A Birmingham Local’s Guide

Birmingham, AL · Race Weekend

On race Sunday, the parking lots at Talladega Superspeedway open at 7 a.m., six hours before the green flag, and a good share of Birmingham, AL is already rolling east on I-20 to claim a spot.

The YellaWood 500 Talladega weekend runs Oct. 23–25, 2026, and the track sits about 40 miles from downtown Birmingham, off Exit 168. That makes it the easiest NASCAR weekend in the Southeast to do from the Magic City, as long as you plan around the gate times and the cooler rules. Everything below comes from the speedway's own site and its posted weekend schedule, so double-check the times if the weather turns.

02 — Getting InParking and the drive

From Birmingham, head east on I-20 and take Exit 168. Speedway Boulevard runs parallel to the interstate, and the track's own advice is to arrive early, keep your navigation app open for the route back to I-20, and be patient in the lots after the race.

General parking is free. The speedway lists a North Lot, east-side Lots 1E through 4E, and west-side Lots 1W through 4W, 8W, 9W and 10W. Preferred lots A through E need a pass, and so do the VIP lots. A free tram circulates around the property. Drop a pin on your phone when you park, because a field that size looks identical at 5 p.m.
